Pink: Young Magazine Finds Growing Audience
Due to the challenges of my speaking engagements, seminar schedules, and consulting demands, I am constantly in search of valuable resources. One of our clients recently sent me a copy of a magazine I have never seen before. It was accompanied with a note suggesting I look at it as a potential resource for future projects. I must admit I wasn’t overly enthused about having to add still another magazine to my already-too-tall stack of reading material. However, I appreciated the thoughtfulness of my client and the possibility of a good potential resource. Therefore I tossed it into my flight bag and headed to the airport for another cross-country keynote assignment.
Five minutes into my flight, I found myself enthralled with the short history and bright future of PINK. Let me get right to the point by telling you what I found useful and telling about the benefits and future longevity of this publication:
- Hard-edged business advice geared to men and women who work, who are going to re-enter the working field, and those who may be just starting their careers.
- Plenty of incredibly practical tips and ideas on a variety of business subjects.
- Tips for men on how to best deal with women in the workplace.
- Monthly book reviews of current must-read best sellers.
- Articles on money and financial issues.
- Career tips.
- Health issues and concerns.
- Office politics.
- Biographies of successful women, how they got there, and what they’re doing to maintain their success.
- A list of “women we’ve lost and what they helped us find.”
- Articles on culture, self-reinvention, balance, values in the workplace, guide to managing women, creativity, and shopping wisdom.
Another thing that impressed me was the list of contributing writers to each issue. The list includes men and women from every walk of life, all who boast very impressive biographies and obviously know what they’re talking about.
I couldn’t help but notice the caliber of the well-known companies who chose to advertise in this magazine. The impressive list includes Ford, Delta Airlines, FedEx, Dell, Hertz, IBM, Wachovia and Home Depot to name just a few. These are long-term organizations who are obviously very well-versed in knowing how to invest their advertising dollars where they know they’ll receive a good return on their investment.
This is a magazine designed for multi-dimensional women who care about their careers, their families, their communities and their futures. Every issue provides readers with many interesting insights on how women think. It addresses the unique needs, interests, ambitions and accomplishments of today’s business women, while providing a road map for those who aspire to do great things with their lives. In my opinion, every male reader will positively benefit from everything I just mentioned.
I discovered an additional bonus in checking out the web site that supports the magazine, http://www.pinkmagazine.com/. A quick visit will expose you to a very vivid, colorful site offering a free eNewsletter, online exclusives, a conference calendar, a large variety of special features, and updates on women in the news.
PINK shares stories of remarkable individuals along with expert advice and cutting-edge data and emerging trends to help readers gain more financial independence, and more equity and opportunity in the workplace.
I was probably put off a bit by the magazine title although I wasn’t certain why. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one with concerns in this area as I quickly discovered an explanation of the title choice on the web site: “From the day we are born we are associated with colors, boys are blue and girls are pink, how smart to call a professional women’s magazine PINK Magazine. Business Week wrote an interesting review about the magazine, and it seems that Pink is not just a name; its a voice for professional women that want to be heard. But today a growing number of women who are at, or heading for the top, are comfortable with their own pinkness—the color, the attitude, and the opportunity it represents. They are embracing their femininity along with their strength, their compassion and resilience, power and passion. PINK exists to promote this new generation of women who are making a significant impact on the world through their work and their lives—while being true to themselves.”
My advice … check out the web site. You’ll get an impression of what to expect in the magazine. A few minutes on the web site, and you’ll be off to the nearest news stand to get this month’s issue of what promises to be a real asset to anyone dealing with the challenges of today’s competitive business environment … PINK Magazine.

Just noticed your comments on PINK. WOW! Thanks so very much for the review. Much appreciated! Please let us know if we can do anything for you. Certainly we would love to work with you to distribute PINK to your audiences when you are doing talks as appropriate. Also, we do talks across the USA inside America’s biggest companies. We are having so much fun building PINK and what is making an incredible difference is women like you – helping us get the word out. Also, perhaps we can chat as we build out our site and go into PHASE II – we would love to see if there is a way we can promote you too! My contact info is on our site and my email is gbos@pinkmagazine.com. Open to ideas and happy to see if there is a way we can collaborate. Take care and thanks!
