TRW Offers Leadership Boot Camp |
| When team leaders, supervisors and managers recently gathered at TRW’s Portland Plant for a
Leadership Boot Camp, it was a lot more than fun props and interesting stories. The fast-paced two-day Boot Camp facilitated by
AchieveMax®, focused on the skills
and tools needed for successful leadership. In addition to topic
presentations by
Harry K. Jones and
Kathleen J. Wheelihan, attendees also participated in self- and team-assessments, small-group discussion, classroom participation, and activities designed to introduce, reinforce, and gain hands-on experience with important leadership skills.
For some participants, the program served as a refresher and creativity booster for skills already learned. For others, it provided new tools on how to become a more effective supervisor and leader. One of the strongest elements of the Boot Camp was group interaction. In a fast-paced environment with multiple shifts, it can be difficult for the entire leadership team to get together to exchange ideas and experiences. The Boot Camp provided many opportunities to discuss how issues like change, communication, and goals impact different areas within the plant. It also helped everyone become more aligned in their approach to supervisory issues and concerns. The TRW Portland Plant produces commercial steering systems, is located in Portland, Michigan, and has more than 375 employees.
