Words of Wisdom on Aging
If you need a refreshing thought, idea, slogan, or profound nugget for an upcoming meeting, presentation, or lunch room bulletin board, take a look at the following words of wisdom on aging. Don't miss our other categories of Words of Wisdom. Random Thoughts on AgingSurely the consultation of old age is finding out few
things are worth worrying over. Age does not diminish the extreme disappointment of having
a scoop of ice cream fall from the cone. The young man who has not wept is a savage, and the old
man who will not laugh is a fool. I never look back. I'm not going that way. It's much better to WEAR OUT than to rust out. It's not how old you are, but how you are old. Too many people grow up. That's the real trouble with
the world ... They don't remember what it's like to be 12 years old. Age doesn't matter unless you're cheese. Aging like a fine wine means spending a lot of time on
your side, lying down. Old minds are like old horses: you must exercise them
if you wish to keep them in working order. Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind,
it doesn't matter. At my age, by the time I find temptation, I'm too tired
to give in to it! The secret of genius is to carry the spirit of the child
into old age, which means never losing your enthusiasm. Life would be infinitely happier if only we could be born
at the age of 80 and gradually approach 18. You're not too old until it takes longer to rest up than
it does to get tired. Careful grooming may take 20 years off a woman's age,
but you can't fool a long flight of stairs. Nobody grows old merely by living a number of years. We
grow old by deserting our ideals. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give
up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt;
as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear; as young as your
hope, as old as your despair. Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional. In youth the days are short and the years are long; in
old age the years are short and the days long.
Youth is a wonderful thing. What a crime to waste it on
children. Old age isn't so bad when you consider the alternative. Do not regret growing older. It is a privilege denied
to many. How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were? When I was younger, I could remember anything, whether
it had happened or not; but my faculties are decaying now and soon I shall
be so I cannot remember any but the things that never happened. The man who is too old to learn was probably always too
old to learn. When you get old, you might lose some of your marbles.
But don't lose your marvels. Youth is a gift of nature, but age is a work of art! |
