Random Thoughts on PersistenceI am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded
is another step forward. Effort only fully releases its reward after a person refuses
to quit. History has demonstrated that the most notable winners
usually encountered heartbreaking obstacles before they triumphed. They
won because they refused to become discouraged by their defeats. Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished
by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all. I know the price of success: dedication, hard work, and
an unremitting devotion to the things you want to see happen. The heights by great men reached and kept Let me tell you the secret that has led me to my goal:
my strength lies solely in my tenacity. Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent
perspiration. Aerodynamically the bumblebee shouldn't be able to fly,
but the bumblebee doesn't know that so it goes on flying anyway. Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.
Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.
Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will
not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination
are omnipotent. The slogan press on has solved and always will solve the
problems of the human race. No person was ever honored for what he received.
Honor has been the reward for what he gave. The most essential factor is persistence―the determination
never to allow your energy or enthusiasm to be dampened by the discouragement
that must inevitably come. By persisting in your path, though you forfeit the little,
you gain the great. If you're going through hell, keep going. How long should you try? Until. A jug fills drop by drop. Energy and persistence alter all things. Keep on going and the chances are that you will stumble
on something, perhaps when you are least expecting it. I never heard of
anyone ever stumbling on something while sitting down. One of the most difficult things everyone has to learn
is that for your entire life you must keep fighting and adjusting if you
hope to survive. No matter who you are or what your position is, you must
keep fighting for whatever it is you desire to achieve. Paralyze resistance with persistence. Lots of people limit their possibilities by giving up
easily. Never tell yourself this is too much for me. It's no use. I can't
go on. If you do you're licked, and by your own thinking too. Keep believing
and keep on keeping on.
The drops of rain make a hole in the stone, not by violence,
but by oft falling. Continuous, unflagging effort, persistence, and determination
will win. Let not the man be discouraged who has these. When things go wrong as they sometimes will. When the road you're trudging seem all up hill. When funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh. When life is pressing you down a bit, Rest if you must, but don't you quit. Life is queer with its twists and turns, As everyone of us sometimes learns. And many a failure turns about, When he might have won had he stuck it out. Don't give up though the pace seems slow—You may succeed with another blow. Success is failure turned inside out—The silver tint of the clouds of doubt . And you never can tell how close you are. It may be near when it seems so far: So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit—It's
when things seem worst that you must not quit!
