Words of Wisdom on Politics
If you need a refreshing thought, idea, slogan, or profound nugget for an upcoming meeting, presentation, or lunch room bulletin board, take a look at the following words of wisdom on politics. Don't miss our other categories of Words of Wisdom. Random Thoughts on PoliticsIf Thomas Jefferson thought taxation without representation
was bad, he should see how it is with representation! Put a federal agency in charge of the Sahara Desert, and
it would run out of sand. Any nation that can survive what we have lately in the
way of government is on the high road to permanent glory. Our forefathers made one mistake. What they should have
fought for was representation without taxation. It's income tax time again, Americans: time to gather
up those receipts, get out those tax forms, sharpen up that pencil, and
stab yourself in the aorta. The IRS has 480 different tax forms, plus 280 more to
explain how to fill out the first 480. The original Tax Code had 11,400
words; today it has 7 million. In 1950, American families sent 1 of 50 of their hard
earned dollars to Washington: Today it is 1 in 4. American workers spend more of their day working to pay
taxes than they do to feed, clothe, and house their families. Anybody who wants the presidency so much that he/she will
spend two years organizing and campaigning for it is not to be trusted
with the office. Instead of just be dazzled by these corporate mega-mergers,
there should be a nagging voice in all of us asking: Is democracy going
to be bought up too? A politician is someone who feels a great debt to his
fellow man, which debt he proposes to pay off with your money. "Politics" is made up of two words, "poli,"
which is Greek for "many," and "tics," which are blood-sucking
insects. Government is like a baby. An alimentary canal with a
big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other. I wish it were possible to obtain a single amendment to
our Constitution. I would be willing to depend on that alone for the reduction
of the administration of our government; I mean an additional article
taking from the Federal Government the power of borrowing. Democracy's the worst form of government except for all
the others. A society of sheep must in time beget a government of
wolves. Democracy is three wolves and a sheep voting on what's
for dinner. The State calls its own violence, law; but that of the
individual, crime. A lot has been said about politics; some of it complimentary,
but most of it accurate. What do Washington's politicians and pro wrestlers have
in common? ... They're mostly overweight white guys pretending to hurt
each other.
A politician thinks of the next electiona statesman
of the next generation. Elections are won by men and women chiefly because most
people vote against somebody rather than for somebody. When I was a boy I was told that anybody could become
PresidentI'm beginning to believe it. Blessed are the young, for they will inherit the national
debt. To steal from one person is theft. To steal from many
is taxation. The income tax created more criminals than any other single
act of government.
